Dear Parents,

It is wonderful to be writing to you again after the long summer break!  I hope that you have all enjoyed a peaceful and wonderful time with family and friends and would like to wish you Ramadan Kareem!

This letter is intended as a fuller explanation of the text which we sent out today regarding the change of opening dates for Dafna KG.

In a continued effort to improve the physical learning environment for your children, we have been working on many changes over the summer vacation.

• The old porta cabin, which even given the work we did on the flooring last year, was still unsatisfactory, has been removed.
• A solid concrete toilet block has been built.
• At the back of the playground a specifically designed garden/green learning space has been created. Including grass, a small pond and a growing patch for each class.  This will be a wonderful area for the children during the long cooler months, where they can observe wildlife and grow their own plants and vegetables!  The area (and pond) will be properly fenced and supervised at all times.
• Additional children?s toilets have been fitted in the administration block.
• We have swapped over the Library with Nursery 5 classroom to provide a large new learning space.
• We have relocated the Nurse to a better space with access to a private bathroom, on the ground floor and easily accessible from the playground.

We have created 3 new larger, brighter classrooms to replace the porta cabin rooms:

1. The previous staffroom has had a revamp with extra windows added for light and will house a Reception class.

2. The previous space used by Arabic and Islamic staff for preparation has been split in 2 ? with new ACs and an additional access door fitted. These will house 1 Reception and 1 Nursery class.

We are very excited about the changes to our school ? and we are confident that you and your children will be too.

However, due to the holiday period, and some missed deadlines by our contractors we find ourselves having to propose a short delay in opening. 

New dates are as follows:

Open Mornings:

These were very successful last year! You are invited to bring your child anytime between 9.00am and 12.00pm to meet with your child?s teacher, collect information and visit your child?s class.  It is a great way for the children to become familiar with the school before their first day and makes the transition from home easier.  Please stay with your child on that day.

• 22^nd September 2010 ? Cr?che and Nursery
• 23^rd September 2010 ? Reception A and B

Your teacher will also offer you the option of taking a staggered entry date ? more information available on the day.

• First day of school will then be Sunday 26^th September 2010.

We certainly did not intend to have this small delay in opening, however I am sure you will agree that all the positive improvements which your child will benefit from for the rest of the year is worth it.
