At Al Maha Kindergarten we follow the British Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum Guidance. The Foundation Stage is the period of education from birth to five years. It is recognized that children learn and develop in different ways and this is taken into account when planning their learning in order to help them achieve and build self-confidence.
There is a strong emphasis on learning through play where children will engage in a range of activities to enhance their six areas of learning and development, also known as the Six Early Learning Goals which are outlined below:
Personal, Social, Emotional Development
Communication, Language and Literacy
Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
Knowledge and Understanding of the World
Physical Development
Creative Development
The Kindergartens academic year is divided into three terms, where assessments are an ongoing process and children are observed on a day-to-day basis, for staff to work on their strengths and weaknesses.
Reception children are assessed before they move on to Year One in the Primary School and their assessment folders are passed on to the next teacher.
In addition to this, extra-curricular activities and educational trips are also planned during the year to ensure children gain first-hand experiences and learn within a holistic approach.
We recognize that parents play a fundamental role in childrens development and learning and therefore encourage a positive partnership. We would like to share information with parents so that we can work together towards the same goals to enhance childrens learning.
This would be in the following form:
Termly Academic Plan - informs parents of the learning taking place throughout the term.
